v.9 So Moses spoke thus to the children of Israel; but they did not heed Moses, because of anguish of spirit and cruel bondage.
Sometimes, the suffering that we face makes it very hard to hear God's promises. Yet, it doesn't mean that God's faithfulness diminishes. He perseveres.
v. 10 & the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
v.11 “Go in, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the children of Israel go out of his land.”
-No matter what - Moses must continue the mission.
-God's plan isn't dependent on the faith of the people but on his own faithfulness!!!
v. 12 & Moses spoke before the Lord, saying, “The children of Israel have not heeded me. How then shall Pharaoh heed me, for I am of uncircumcised lips?”
Moses must have felt so unworthy. He must have felt inadequate to lead the people. This is evident because he was willing to express doubt like he did in Ex. 4:10
v. 13 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, and gave them a command for the children of Israel and for Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
- God does not spend time on Moses' doubts but charges him to go forward, (gives a firm command).
- Again, God shows that his power does not depend on the faith of people but on God's faithfulness.
This section gives me a great deal of hope. It showed obvious difficulties for Moses and the Israelite people. They were in despair but despite it God was faithful to his promise and was with them. I can count on God when I cannot count on myself to be strong enough.
